A CONSISTENT PATTERN OF PRODUCTIVITY LEAPS: (I) He wrote a system which automatically creates RPG file maintenance programs (Which normally would take weeks to write) from a "screen paint" & answering questions. (I) The file maintenance program, once generated, allows the USER to add his own screens and fields complete with edits, security by screen and field, & screen sequencing ability. (I) The screens thus added by the USER could be done with NO programming staff, yet the fields are automatically available on "special purpose" report writers he also created. (I) Both the fields the USER added and those that come standard with the software could be combined in ANY sequence and displayed on ONE screen and maintained for all records in a file that met ANY selection criteria. (I) He produced a reporting system that enabled all report cards, transcripts, and reports to be COMPLETELY USER DEFINED. All "report cards" at all sites were printed by the same program. This included the ability to print USER created fields and screens. (I) He produced a general ledger system which allowed the USER to define his own account structure including up to 10 account dimensions by which the USER could create his own financial reports and audits without a staff of programmers. (I) He developed and implemented a completely automated software delivery system to support remote sites with varying degrees of software levels. (I) He developed a 1-800 Hotline Telephone support system which was integrated with accounts receivable and software delivery systems. (A) He developed a generic "drill-down" RPG and DDS subfile processor (for inquiry, update, or other user-defined purposes) which allows multi-tiered views of data and related processes, such as manufacturing lot tracking and quality control. This tool reduces the amount of time it takes (to develop an RPG program) to roughly 20% of normal. The "drill-down" tool allows for dynamic and in-depth searches and maintenance of related data bases without exiting programs (a more natural way of work flow). This tool allows new powerful functionality additions with a program change that takes only minutes. (R) He produced a barcode
printing
system which will print ANY label for ANY purpose through the use of
USER
DEFINED AS/400 label formats. (R) He produced an importing system for creating the USER DEFINED AS/400 barcode label formats by automating the process from "drawing" the label on a PC to printing the label from within an AS/400 program. The result being, for example, that a new customer's barcode shipping label could be available to print in less than an hour. Burch Advantage Computing, Ltd.
